CIVIL DEFENCE OTAGO: A local state of emergency for Otago region has been declared due to widespread, heavy snowfall. Don't travel. All State Highways in or out of Otago are closed. Prepare your home - keep warm. Check on neighbours. Charge devices NOW to prepare for power outages, treat all downed power lines as live at all times. Listen to local radio stations for updates.
